An international symposium titled “Situations of Educational, Cultural and Media Institutions in Yemen: Violations and Protection Mechanisms” began in Rabat on Monday at the headquarters of Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), co-organized by the organization and the Embassy of the Republic of Yemen.
A number of experts and specialists in international law and human rights, as well as representatives of a number of local, Arab and international media attended the event. At the opening session, ISESCO Director-General Dr. Abdul Aziz bin Othman Al-Twaijri said the whole world knows that Yemen, for more than three years, has been suffering under Houthi militias. These militias, supported by foreign powers, have targeted Yemen’s sovereignty, security and independence, he added.
The symposium included presentations on the current developments in Yemen and the impact of the war on education and culture. It also discussed mechanisms to protect Yemen’s educational and cultural institutions within the framework of the joint Arab and Islamic action.
