ISLAMABAD: Punjab’s provincial administration signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Pakistani Navy on Thursday to build Bahria Model College in the port city of Gwadar.
The province will fund the facility’s construction. In his address to the ceremony, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif lauded the Navy's efforts to promote education and spearhead socioeconomic initiatives, especially in coastal areas.
The MoU is part of the Punjab government’s efforts to realize its vision of establishing schools and colleges in Gwadar, he said.
The chief of naval staff, Zafar Mehmood Abbasi, thanked the provincial government for funding the college’s construction, which he said will pave the way for the socio-economic uplifting of Pakistan’s coastal areas.
Gwadar constitutes the backbone of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) but remains underdeveloped.
