  • The Ambassador thanked the “forward” factory in Sialkot for supplying the footballs for this tournament.

ISLAMABAD: The “Year of Zayed” Ramadan Football Cup tournament kicked off on May 29 and ends on June 2 at the Embassy of UAE in Islamabad, the Embassy said in a statement on Wednesday.

With the participation of eight Arab embassies, the opening ceremony of the tournament witnessed by Hamad Obaid Al-Zaabi, Ambassador of UAE in Islamabad, and the ambassadors of Egypt, Bahrain and Kuwait and the Arab diplomatic community in Islamabad.
Al-Zaabi said that the hosting of this tournament by the UAE Embassy is part of its social initiatives this year, “as we are celebrating the vision of the founding father Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan, and our aim of this gathering is to communicate with the Arab diplomatic community in one place.”
The Ambassador thanked the “forward” factory in Sialkot for supplying the footballs for this tournament. It is manufacturing the footballs that will be used in the World Cup in Russia next month.
The Ambassador extended his thanks to all UAE companies that contributed and sponsored the “Year of Zayed” Football Cup tournament.
Meanwhile, UAE’s embassy in Islamabad has launched a new phase of the distribution of Ramadan food baskets to needy families in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, donated by the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Charitable and Humanitarian Establishment.
Ambassador Hamad Obaid Al-Zaabi said that the launch of the distribution is part of the initiatives and plans of the Embassy with charitable and humanitarian foundations in the month of Ramadan.
