ISLAMABAD: The UAE Embassy in Pakistan on Wednesday hosted an iftar at the Islamabad campus of the International Islamic University as part of the Year of Zayed initiative.
The launch of the initiative during the holy month of Ramadan follows in the footsteps of the UAE’s founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan, said the Emirati ambassador to Pakistan, Ahmed Obaid Ibrahim Salim Al-Zaabi.
“We are following the leading role of (UAE) President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan to promote human values and achieve the objectives of providing charitable work,” Al-Zaabi said.
“The initiative is part of the efforts to provide a decent life for those seeking knowledge residing in the International Islamic University dorm.”
The embassy’s humanitarian efforts will continue throughout Ramadan, Al-Zaabi added.
