CAIRO: A truck loaded with a ton of cannabis stashed inside cement bags was mistakenly parked outside a police station in Egypt, a newspaper reported on Sunday.
Police officers in El-Qantara, a northeastern Egyptian city located in the governorate of Ismailia, informed their headquarters of a truck loaded with 60 tons of sealed cement bags, left unattended outside their station.
According to Youm7, police examined the bags only to discover that there were two large rolls of ‘Bango’, modern Egyptian street-slang for cannabis, hidden inside 95 bags of cement.
The drug is the most commonly used drug in Egypt, as well as across the Middle East.
The newspaper said the loaded truck was confiscated by police.
Preliminary investigations said the vehicle is owned by a 51-year-old housewife. It said it was not clear if the truck was stolen, as no theft was reported regarding the vehicle.
