JEDDAH: The first trip of the Umrah and visit program for the children of martyrs, people with special needs and orphans, organized by the Department of Public Relations in Makkah Governorate, departed from Jeddah to Makkah and Madinah on Friday.
The purpose of the trip was to enable participants to perform Umrah at the Grand Mosque and visit the Prophet’s Mosque.
It was organized by the Governorate of Makkah Region on the instructions of Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, and his deputy Prince Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdul Aziz,
The spokesman of the Governorate of Makkah Region Sultan Al-Dosari said that the program comes within the framework of the responsibility of the Governorate toward deserving groups for their great role in the service of society, stressing that the Governorate would work to improve communication with society through the use of all modern technology.
He added that the first trip began with more than 100 people from Makkah to Madinah by train, and that participants included sons and families of martyrs in Makkah region, the Handicraft Association, and the Ibsar Association for the visually-impaired and the charity Association of Orphan Care in Jeddah.
