ISLAMABAD: Pakistan observed Kashmir Solidarity Day on Friday, with Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif saying his government and people, and those “across the world salute the Kashmiri people for their courage, bravery and persistence in the just struggle against Indian occupation, and reiterate the continued and steadfast political, moral and diplomatic support to them.”
He added that “for the last 70 years, the valiant people of Indian-occupied” Kashmir have waged “a heroic struggle against Indian oppression, for the realization of the inalienable right to self-determination” as envisaged in UN Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.
“These resolutions remain unimplemented because India has backed out of its commitments and wants to continue with subjugation and oppression of the Kashmiri people.”
The recent killings of 20 unarmed civilians in Indian-administered Kashmir are another manifestation of New Delhi’s policy of trying to resolve disputes through the use of force, Asif said.
Pakistan reminds the international community of its responsibilities, and urges it to implement UNSC resolutions regarding Kashmir, he added.
