- The US president has indicated troops will leave once the Daesh group is routed
- Trump wants to bring troops back, wants to start rebuilding America
WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump reiterated Tuesday that he wants US troops to be pulled out of Syria, but indicated that a decision had not yet been taken.
“I want to bring our troops back home. I want to start rebuilding our nation,” Trump said, having indicated that US troops will leave once the Daesh group is routed.
“Our primary mission in terms of that was getting rid of ISIS. We’ve almost completed that task,” Trump said. “We’ll be making a decision very quickly,” using an another acronym for Daesh.
Trump spoke on the phone with Saudi Arabia’s King Salman on Monday evening. The pair discussed regional developments, including the Syrian conflict, Iranian aggression in the region and Houthi actions against the Kingdom.
