LONDON: Emirati anchor Mashael Al-Shehi was taken by surprise when her colleague Ahmad Khamis asked her hand in marriage on stage before the audience, local newspapers reported.
Khamis, who is also an actor, presented an engagement ring to the presenter along with a bouquet of flowers, with the bride to-be instantly breaking into tears.
The audience cheered the couple, and the video of the engagement proposal went viral on social media.
In the video, Khamis says that he had proposed to Al-Shehi’s parents prior to surprising her on stage, and they agreed to the marriage.
On stage, he jokingly told her: “I presume you will say yes,” and to that she replied: “As I told you before, I will be to you a sister, a mother and everything you need in life, Ahmad.”
