ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Sunday condemning the latest ballistic missile attacks on Saudi cities by Houthis in Yemen.
It also applauded the timely action of the Saudi authorities that helped them destroy missiles that were directed against the Kingdom in recent days.
Apart from issuing condemnation for such attacks, the statement also pointed out that such acts of aggression were putting innocent lives at risk.
It also demanded that the attacks stop immediately.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy strong diplomatic and security relations. The country’s military has maintained a significant presence in the Kingdom, and it is also participating in the ongoing Exercise Gulf Shield-1 organized by the Royal Saudi Armed Forces.
In April 2015, Pakistan’s parliament passed a resolution in which it expressed its “unequivocal support” for the Kingdom and promised to “stand shoulder to shoulder with Saudi Arabia and its people,” if its territorial sovereignty was challenged.
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry also reiterated its full support and solidarity with Saudi Arabia against any threats to its territorial integrity and against the Haramain Sharifain in its Sunday statement.
