CAIRO: The moment a Gulf Arab man was attacked in a London street as he sat in his Mercedes G-class SUV for no apparent reason has gone viral on social media.
Local news reports said British police have arrested a man suspected of attacking Abdullah Al-Hosani and wrote statements like “war” on his vehicle, in the UK capital city’s White Chapel.
Hosani, a London resident who works as a university instructor, said he was in his car when the man approached him and punched him in his head several times through the car’s window.
Now a video of the incident has been widely shared over the Internet.
Hosani was quoted by the Emarat Al-Youm newspaper saying two young Lebanese men who worked at a restaurant opposite the street rushed to his aid, and held the suspect until police arrived.
He said he could not identify the attacker who had threatened to kill him, saying “I will slaughter you,” the news report added.
Hosani said the attacker’s intentions remain unknown , but did not rule out that the incident could be racially motivated.
British police are investigating the incident.
