CAIRO: Egypt’s top media regulatory council decided to suspend a telecom company TV ad after it described it as “harmful” for the country’s relations with African states.
Head of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR) Makram Mohamed Ahmed decided to suspend the advert indefinitely on all satellite channels.
In their decision, the council stated that “the content of the TV ad harms Egyptian-African relations and the interests of the Egyptian state in Africa.”

It also said violators will be fined if they air the ad.
The suspension followed a complaint by Khalid Emara , Egypt’s Deputy-Assistant Foreign Minister for African Affairs over the nature of the ad.
