CAIRO: Egyptian newspapers revealed photos of policeman Ali Galal, who was killed in a an explosion in Egypt’s second city Alexandria on Saturday, two days before the country is due to hold a presidential election.
The bomb placed under a car targeted Alexandria’s security chief police Major General Mostafa Al-Nemr has left four other policemen wounded.
Sergeant Galal was driving a security vehicle in a convoy escorting the police general.
Photos on social media that Arab News could not independently verify showed a burnt out car and smoke at the site of the blast, in El-Moaskar El-Romany Street.
Meanwhile, dozens of demonstrators arrived at the site of the blast to condemn the attack, shouting “No to terrorism..Long live Egypt!”
The participants vowed that they will still take part in elections, adding that the attack will not spoil the election scene, which is set to begin on Monday.
