ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Russia have reaffirmed the commitment to promote bilateral cooperation for countering terrorism.
The resolve was expressed at the 7th meeting of Pakistan- Russia Joint Working Group on Counter-Terrorism in Islamabad.
The Pakistan side was led by Director General, Counter Terrorism, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmad Farooq, while Director, Department for New Challenges of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ilya ROGACHEV represented his delegation.
The two sides discussed a wide ranging agenda covering the counter-terrorism situation at the regional and global level.
The Pakistan side briefed the Russian delegation about the major successes it has achieved in the fight against terrorism which have resulted in significantly improving security situation in the country.
Both sides expressed grave concern over the rising threat posed by Da'esh.
They also agreed to cooperate at the United Nations and other international fora for combating terrorism.
