CAIRO: Immigration at the UAE’s airports have surprised passengers on Tuesday by stamping their passports with smiley faces on International Happiness Day.
Every passenger received a “Happy UAE stamp” on the occasion, Dubai’s General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) said on Twitter.
On Twitter, the GDRFA published a series of pictures showing customs officials greeting arrivals with a smile, and handing balloons to some.
It also tweeted saying: “@GDRFADUBAI surprises passengers arriving at @DubaiAirports with a ‘Welcome to the happy #UAE’ stamp to celebrate the International Day of Happiness.”
A recent survey has put UAE among the top happiest countries in the world.
The UAE has recorded 7.2 points in life evaluation among UAE nationals, marking the 11th rank worldwide according to the World Happiness Report 2018.
