RIYADH: The King Salman Center for Disability Research (KSCDR) underscored on Thursday the importance of the Comprehensive Access Project (CAP), which has been approved by the Council of Ministers.

“It’s one of the most important strategic projects of the center that provides a vital service to 10 percent of the Kingdom’s population, including the disabled and elderly,” KSCDR executive director Ahmed Al-Yahya said.

The program aims to eliminate obstacles so that the disabled can be integrated in society.

The center has a national role in researching suitable care packages for disabled people in the Kingdom.

The program was created after a comprehensive study that assessed the scale of problems facing disabled people in the Kingdom and looked at best practice internationally on designing infrastructure.

As a result of the study, the KSCDR has produced four guides including a comprehensive look at access in urban environments as well as access to transport and tourism.
