KUWAIT CITY: Kuwaiti TV presenter Halima Boland visited Makkah and Madinah recently along with her parents.
Boland posted her pictures on Snapchat, expressing her emotions through social media.
However, these pictures created a controversy; while a lot of fans congratulated her for visiting the holy cities, some advised her to be more focused on performing her religious rituals there.
Boland was recently able to get her Instagram account back, after it had been hacked.
In December, a court ordered columnist Layla Ahmed to pay a fine of 3,000 Kuwaiti dinars ($10,000) and display good conduct for a period of three years for offending Halima on her Instagram account.
Lawyer Hussain Al-Asfour said the public prosecution accused Ahmed of using her account on social media to insult Boland with phrases deemed offensive to the latter’s dignity.
