DUBAI: Diego Maradona maybe nearly 60 and not quite as lithe as he was during his decorated playing days but he showed he’s lost none of his love for the beautiful game.
The Argentine great is the unlikely manager of second tier UAE club Fujairah and showed the game still means as much to him as it did when he won the World Cup with Argentina in 1986 by wildly celebrating his adopted team's winning goal on Monday night.
The President’s Cup game between and Hatta and his side looked to be heading to penalties when Haitham Ali popped up in stoppage time with the most dramatic of winners. Maradona could barely contain his delight and he set off on a victory lap, celebrating frenziedly with his coaching staff and the fans.

Maradona might have needed a lie down afterwards as his side put him through the emotional wringer, coming from 1-0 down to lead 2-1 only to be denied victory in normal time by a last-minute Hatta equalizer. Ali then popped up with the winner in the final play of the match to spark scenes of joy not seen since Maradona’s wild-eyed celebration at the 1994 World Cup.
