JEDDAH: The Specialized Criminal Court in Riyadh on Monday began the trials of 11 Syrian nationals suspected of supporting Daesh.
They are charged with adopting the takfiri ideology and supporting a terrorist organization. Most of the suspects are accused of sheltering people who either wanted to travel to Syria or who had returned from the conflict zone.
And by doing so, these individuals undermined the Saudi security and national interests.
Most of the suspects are drivers of heavy vehicles.
Last year, another court in Jeddah issued a preliminary ruling confirming the conviction of a Saudi citizen on charges including supporting the Daesh terrorist organization and its activities.
He was also convicted of other charges that included preparing, sending and storing material that would harm the public through his tweets on the social networking site Twitter. His tweets included insults of the rulers. He also followed a number of Twitter accounts of those who agreed with his extremist beliefs.
