Basil Al-Ghalayini, chairman of BMG Foundation, said the organizing committee of The GCC Polo Cup has started to receive applications for Saudi and Gulf players to participate in their upcoming event.
The mega event is considered to be the first initiative where Saudi players are able to participate in international polo matches.
Over the past years, the event has been taking place at the Guards Polo Club in Windsor, South England, with the attending of King Salman, Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles and other dignitaries from the two countries.
The Saudi Sports Authority had announced the approval of the Saudi Polo Federation.
Al-Ghalayini said: “Over the past years, we have tried to set up such a federation in order to bring polo to Saudi Arabia. With this announcement, a dream has come true.”
Al-Ghalayini praised the Saudi Sports Authority for its efforts in this regard.
