JEDDAH: When in Dubai, do as the Emiratis do. US pop star Gwen Stefani, who was in the Emirate this week for a concert, played the quintessential tourist, visiting the desert, watching a falcon show, riding a camel, and covering her face and hair with a head scarf.
The entertainer performed at the grand opening of Renaissance Downtown Hotel on Monday in Dubai.
Before her performance, Stefani took time off for sightseeing in the city, visiting the Burj Khalifa and a perfume shop, and taking a desert safari.
Stefani, 48, posted an Instagram photo Sunday of herself in the desert with her hair and most of her face covered up, shielding herself from the dust.
She captioned it: “#dubai @renhotels #adventure #culture,” adding an emoji of a heart and a camel before closing out: “#desert gx.”
In another picture, she is seen gazing at a falcon that was perched on her wrist. “Wow can’t believe I had such an incredible time here in Dubai thank you so much to Cleatus, the hotel’s amazing navigator — who set up some incredible local experiences today,” she wrote on Instagram.
Stefani’s Instagram story showed her dining in a luxurious desert tent before she went on to ride a camel.
She also posted a video of herself in the elevator of Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world.
The “Sweet Escape” singer also gave a nod to the Middle East earlier in the week, after donning Lebanese label Elie Saab for an event in London.
