RIYADH: The director general of sector and regional development at the Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority, Mashari Abdulrahman Al-Assilan, told Okaz newspaper on Monday that the authority began making arrangements for training Saudi filmmakers at Hollywood studios

The training will continue until the trainee returns from Hollywood. They will find incubators and business accelerators ready for them to transform their energy into works that benefit them and the sectors in which they work.

“The idea of creating filmmaking cities is on the table, and studies are being done on how much film we produce. We are new to this industry compared to foreign countries,” he said.

He pointed out that “the studies will clarify what is appropriate for the authority and the nature of the Kingdom instead of copying the work of our predecessors of more than 40 years. We are working on how to renew and at the same time we care about the internal content.”
