ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Minister of Defense Khurram Dastgir Khan will represent Islamabad at the first meeting of the recently formed Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) in Riyadh on Sunday, Nov. 26.

The defense ministers of all 41 IMCTC members are expected to attend the meeting, which has the theme “Allied Against Terrorism.”

A Pakistan Defense Ministry official told Arab News that Additional Secretary Defense Rear Adm. Faisal Rasul Lodhi will also accompany the minister.

The IMCTC will reportedly discuss proposals to intensify efforts and cooperation among its member countries.

Defense analyst Lt. Gen. (Retired) Amjad Shoaib told Arab News that Pakistan’s role in the alliance will be key. “It will promote Pakistan’s (military) relations with (the other members),” he said.
