RIYADH: The secretariat of the National Committee of Narcotics Control (NCNC) held the first coordinating meeting to launch the preventive plan for the Nebras project in Al-Aflaj province in coordination with the education directorate and the social development center.
Participating in the conference were Al-Aflaj Gov. Zaid Al-Hussein; the secretary-general of the NCNC, deputy director general of the General Directorate for Drug Control, and chairman of the National Committee for Combating Drugs (Nebras), Abdul Ilah Al-Sharif; and a number of Al-Aflaj directorate heads.
The governor of Al-Aflaj delivered a speech in which he praised Nebras’ efforts and stressed the need for collaboration to combat drugs that have negative effects on individuals and society.
On his part, Al-Sharif talked about the committee’s role and steps to implement Nebras’ preventive plan, calling on everyone to join efforts to raise the level of awareness, and protect society from drugs and psychotropic substances.
The director of education in Al-Aflaj, Mohammed Al-Zayed, delivered a speech in which he talked about the preventive programs implemented by the education directorate to raise awareness among students through school projects and activities about drug dangers.
On his part, the general supervisor of schools in Al-Aflaj, Musfer Al-Kubairi, said that Al-Aflaj schools are fully ready to include training sessions in their programs by providing all that is necessary.
The meeting was concluded by an agreement signed between Al-Aflaj Social Development Committee and the NCNC.
Al-Sharif said that the coordinating meeting will be followed by a forum to activate the project in the province including training sessions; educational and sports programs that aim to reinforce values, religious beliefs and citizenship among children; educating young men and women (in high schools and universities); and finding male and female trainers to implement Nebras’ projects in the province.
