People feared ‘trapped’ after mountain landslide in Oman

DUBAI: A rescue operation is under way after a landslide left several people trapped under rubble in Nizwa, Oman, the Times of Oman has reported.
Rescue workers say the landslide happened on the side of a mountain in Tawi city, although no details were given as to the cause.
A statement from the Public Authority for Civil Defense and Ambulance (PACDA) explained: “A report of the collapse of part of a mountain in the province of Nizwa in Tawi city, with preliminary information indicating the presence of people trapped. Rescue teams are on the site, more updates later.”
