PISJ-ES recently organized a program to mark the Pakistan Defense Day. It is held on Sept. 6 every year to commemorate the Pakistani soldiers who lost their lives defending their country in the 1965 India-Pakistan war.
The event was attended by army and navy officers, who were the guests of honor, in addition to students, faculty members and journalists.
The program commenced with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, followed by the national anthem of Pakistan. Guests received a guard of honor from senior school students.
Principal Adnan Nasir said: “Today is the day to pay tribute to the sons of our motherland who rendered their present for our future, to the martyrs of this soil who irrigated its existence with their blood, to the mothers who sacrificed their only hopes to anchor their worn-out muscles in old age, to the fathers who gave their full strength to brighten our future at the cost of their only possessions, to the sisters and daughters who offered their pride in the form of brothers and fathers and to the wives who forfeited their equal halves to this land.”
He added: “We must set our resolutions on individual level. Each of us needs to contemplate how we can participate to make our country the most progressed and strong country in the world.” Nasir advised students to focus on acquiring education and a sound sense of discipline so as to live up to the legacy of their forefathers.
A PowerPoint presentation featured the salient events of the Defense Day. A talk show titled “Vestige Aspirations” highlighted the perspectives of a fearless warrior, soft-hearted author, common man, passionate artist, youth and a mother of that time.
Principal Nasir presented awards to students who secured first, second and third positions in the International Kangaroo Mathematics Competition held across Saudi Arabia. Among the winners were Muhammad Aitizaz Saleem, Muaz Saleem, Ubaid Rafique, Muhammad Khalid Iqbal Khan, Muhammad Rameez Ather, Zarwa Aftab, Wardah Shahzadi, Muhammad Qasim Noor and Muhammad Harun Ali Khan.
Nasir urged members of the community to work honestly in whatever capacity they can to serve the country.
The program ended with a supplication for the safety of Pakistan and its citizens.
