DUBAI: A game of hide and seek went horribly wrong for a 7-year-old boy, who got stuck in a washing machine as he tried to avoid being discovered by his sister.
Firefighters had to rescue the boy, who was playing in his family home in Kharkov, eastern Ukraine, after he crawled into the machine, thinking he had found the ultimate hiding place.
His distraught family was unable to release him, but luckily quick thinking firefighters came up with the idea of using sunflower oil so that he might slide out.
The cunning plan worked – after helping him get his legs out of the door, the rest of him slid out unassisted and then into his clearly concerned mother’s arms.
The whole rescue took the firefighters just 20 minutes, from the point of arrival. At the end they praised the boy who apparently did not cry once during the ordeal.
