MAKKAH: The Council of Ministers’ decision to limit the work of drivers with vehicles to Saudis has helped raise the number of native workers in this field from 10 percent to 95 percent of those who offer their services on smartphone apps, said Dr. Rumaih bin Mohammed Al-Rumaih, head of the Public Transport Commission.
This “helped create 167,000 job opportunities for natives of all ages. For example, the number of drivers aged 22-25 has reached 45,156,” he said, adding that customer satisfaction has increased due to Saudization of the sector.
The council’s decision has boosted job opportunities and saved hundreds of millions of riyals that used to be transferred abroad, said the chief deputy of the commission, Fawaz Al-Sehli.
