JEDDAH: Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal signed the first of many contracts which aim to change the features of the entrance to Jeddah from the direction of the new airport.
This first contract is meant to enhance the appearance of the intersection of Al-Nuzha Road with Madinah Road with a park, which the prince has named “The Smiles of Jeddah Park.” Work will be completed within 12 months.
During the signing ceremony, which took place in the governorate headquarters in Jeddah, Prince Khaled expressed his sincere gratitude to the leadership for supporting development projects in the Kingdom, and he asserted that “The Smiles of Jeddah Park” will be a wonderful welcome from Jeddah to its visitors.
The area of the project amounts to 600,000 square kilometers which includes building five pillars, representing the pillars of Islam; two large structures which highlight the word Jeddah, both in English and Arabic; planting 75 palm trees; and covering over 176,000 square meters with natural and artificial grass supplied with a modern irrigation network. The project is part of the development of the southern façade of the new King Abdul Aziz Airport.
