LONDON: The number of foreign residents visiting Britain for tourism and other purposes during the three months to June was 8 percent higher than a year earlier, figures from the Office for National Statistics showed on Friday.
There were some 10.750 million visitors to Britain between April and June, while 19.090 million Britons made trips abroad during the same period, 1 percent more than a year earlier.
Foreigners’ spending in Britain was 8 percent higher than a year earlier in the second quarter, at 6.23 billion pounds ($8.03 billion), while Britons’ spending abroad rose by 2 percent to 11.25 billion pounds, the ONS said. ($1 = 0.7754 pounds)
