JEDDAH: The general directorate of the border guards has completed preparations and plans to receive pilgrims via land borders and sea ports, and to enable them to perform their rituals with ease, said spokesman Col. Saher bin Mohammed Al-Harbi.
He said the general directorate works alongside other state bodies that are responsible for organizing Hajj and serving pilgrims.
He added that pilgrims coming via land borders and sea ports will be monitored during entry and departure, and security will be tightened at the borders to prevent infiltrators or smugglers who might endanger the safety of pilgrims.
He said the border guards will back up the civil defense in search and rescue operations, and will help the Command and Control Center regarding pilgrimage security in Mina, as well as the Pilgrimage Emergency Operations Center.
