RIYADH: Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Ruwais, the governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC), said under a program dubbed “Seeds for the future,” the Kingdom will use Chinese expertise to develop its telecommunications industry.
Al-Ruwais spoke to Arab News following the opening of the Customer Solution Center for Huawei in the Middle East on Sunday in Riyadh.
The new center will form a good platform to develop local skills in the field of information technology, while Saudi Arabia will send groups of graduates to get hands-on experience in China, he said.
With three leading mobile operators, Al-Ruwais said Saudi Arabia has become No. 1 in the region mobile data transmissio. This is mainly due to the fact that the country is blessed with a majority of youths in its population, which is interested in the country’s transformation to digital technology.
Chinese Ambassador Li Huaxin told Arab News the two countries believe in innovation, transfer of technology and training of youths, which will benefit the Kingdom in the long run.
The ambassador expressed hope that the center will serve local youth and connected enterprises to develop the Saudi economy.
