DUBAI: Dubai Police have arrested a gang responsible for stealing $816,000 worth of goods from a gold shop in the city as it was revealed that staff were locked in a bathroom during the daring heist.
The gang of five armed themselves with knives and pepper spray for the robbery in Dubai’s International City area on Wednesday.
However, Dubai Police announced Sunday that they were apprehended within 48 hours of the crime.
According to the WAM news agency, each member of the gang fled in a different direction after robbery and congregated in different areas of the country before being arrested by police.
Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police Maj. Gen. Abdullah Khalifa Al-Merri praised the police force.
“Just 48 hours after receiving the emergency call, the gang members were arrested and the jewelry recovered despite the fact they were masked and no evidence was left behind. It was a great effort by our officers,” he said, according to Gulf News.
