The Abeer Medical Group’s anti-smoking campaign was held recently in Jeddah. The event was opened by Mohammed Bajobair, regional director, Ministry of Health. Indian Consul General Mohammed Noor Rahman Sheikh was the guest of honor on the occasion.
Bajobair stressed the relevance of awareness initiatives in the health care sector. He added that voluntary endeavors made by health care organizations, such as the Abeer Medical Group, are to be appreciated and given optimum promotion for emphasizing healthy living in the Kingdom. He spoke about a possible collaboration with the Ministry of Health to promote and support this endeavor for the worthy cause.
Noor Rahman expressed deep concern for such unhealthy habits as smoking, which is increasing among youth and adolescents these days. Efforts to curtail tobacco use and enhance healthy lifestyles are the need of the hour, he said, adding that the incidence of smoking had to be cut down in order to lead the nation to progress in health. The first social media material from the campaign was posted on Facebook by the envoy.
Alungal Mohammed, president of Abeer Medical Group, said the pervading social awareness on the predictive and preventive aspects of medicine should be the fundamental mission of every health care organization.
“Expanding awareness on the enhancement of healthy lifestyles intended for early prevention and treatment of diseases is a core mission of Abeer. We are proud to unveil this mass awareness campaign along the lines of the health perspectives of Saudi Vision 2030,” he said.
Khaled Almaeena, veteran Saudi journalist who is a director at Abeer Medical Group, said it should be felt as a core commitment by every individual to lead public-spirited visions.
“Everyone in society has to be on the forefront of such initiatives and live exemplary lives which will inspire others,” Almaeena said.
Dr. Jemshith Ahmed, vice president of Abeer Medical Group, gave a presentation showing the dangerous effects of smoking on the lives of common people.
Dr. Ahmed Ramadan and Noufal Niyas were named as the social media brand ambassadors of Abeer.
