LOS ANGELES: Jackie Chan and Sylvester Stallone are teaming up to star in “Ex-Baghdad,” an $80 million action thriller.
The story centers on two ex-special forces soldiers who must escort a group of civilians along Baghdad’s “Highway of Death” to the safety of the Green Zone.
Scott Waugh helms the film. Chan, Hans Canosa, Esmond Ren, and Joe Tam are producing the project, which is a Chinese production but aimed at international audiences.
Ex-Baghdad casts Chan as a private security contractor tasked with protecting a Chinese oil refinery in Mosul, Iraq. When the refinery is attacked, Chan’s character attempts to extract the facility’s staff, only to discover that the attackers intend to steal a massive amount of oil. He eventually teams up with a former Marine played by Stallone in order to stop the attackers’ plot and rescue the oil workers.
