JEDDAH: Defending champion KAUST (King Abdullah University for Science and Technology) scored a 1-0 win over ICD (Islamic Corporation for the Development of Private Sector) in the final of the ICD 4th annual Football Tournament at Greenlawns ground on Kilo 5 near Jeddah on Wednesday.
In a fitting finale, the best two teams of the tournament tried to outdo each other for the top prize. But on this night KAUST proved the better team to notch back-to-back championships in the annual event to celebrate the 42nd annual meeting of the Islamic Development Bank Group.
KAUST’S Nicolas Augsburger scored the only goal of the final match.
KAUST won its semifinal on Sunday against Islamic Trade and Finance Corporation (ITFC) 7-2.
ICD enjoyed an equally lopsided 5-0 win over International Islamic Relief Organization Saudi Arabia (IIROSA) in the first semifinal match, with Abdulhaki Korbayram drawing first blood for ICD.
