KAUST footballers eye repeat vs. host team ICD today

JEDDAH: Defending champion King Abdullah University for Science and Technology (KAUST) moved to within a victory of retaining its when it qualified for the final in the ICD 4th Annual Football Tournament at Greenlawns ground on Kilo 5 near Jeddah.
KAUST won its semifinal on Sunday against Islamic Trade and Finance Corporation (ITFC) 7-2. Mustafa Mousa opened the scoring for KAUST.
KAUST will face host team Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD) in Wednesday’s final.
ICD hammered out an equally lopsided 5-0 win over International Islamic Relief Organization Saudi Arabia (IIROSA) in the first semifinal match, with Abdulhaki Korbayram drawing first blood for ICD.
The finalists both topped the group stage on 3-0 in the tournament, ICD in Group A and KAUST in Group B. ICD defeated Islamic Trade and Finance Corporation (ITFC) 4-2 on opening day April 26, Ewaan Global Residential Company (Ewaan) 14-1 and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) 6-2. KAUST built its unbeaten record from victories against Islamic Development Bank (IDB) 4-0, Al-Rajhi Bank 8-3 and IIROSA 5-1.
The KAUST-ICD tussle reprises the 2016 final which KAUST won by 2-0.
The tournament is organized to celebrate the 42nd annual meeting of the Islamic Development Bank Group.
