Expendabowls notch second perfect grand slam

JEDDAH: Friday the 13th week was a session to remember for Expendabowls as they recorded the league’s only second perfect grand slam in the OFBC Friday Afternoon League Season 6 at the Iceland Bowling Center here.
Expendabowls won the Team of the Week and the individual Bowler of the Week awards for men and ladies, and in the process posted the first perfect 30 score in the tournament.
The Expendabowls blanked Arci-5 20-0 on total pinfalls of 2,255-1,620 and rank points of 10-1 in a five-week run of headline-grabbing exploits that began on Week 9 and broken only by Toshi on the 11th week when it claimed the team honors.
The Team of the Week award was the second straight and fifth overall for Expendabowls, who now hold the new record for the most number of Team of the Week victories. The maximum possible score of 30 replaced the perfect 28 achieved during the opening week when RTJ Transient House notched the first perfect grand slam with only eight starters then compared to 10 at present.
RTJ, an 18-2 winner over Al-Tayyer United Contracting Co. on total pinfalls of 2,158-1,955 and rank points of 9-6, was the second-best points-getter on 27 followed by Toshi on 25 thanks to to its 18-2 (1,958-1,858 7-3) victory over Velocity Strikers.
Youngsters won the battle of cellar-dwellers against SGH Bowling Group by 18-2 (1,934-1,782 5-2) and finished the day on 23 points.
Elsewhere, Nilobabes brought down Shadow Bowlers 12-8 but the sides ended up with matching tallies of 16 points and respective rank points of 4 and 8.
Gil Catral and Marlyn Mangunay completed Expendabowls’ perfect slam, rolling Bowler of the Week award-winning series of 612 and 546. Jon Belo and Danny Atubang contributed 553 and 526.
Conrad Baltazar was the main man at RTJ on 586 with Ed Cordova on 552, Benj Espinosa on 519 and Aiza Silabay on 501.
Rico Bulalayao was the only player to cross 500 at Toshi with his 557 that went with the 479 by Vivan Sacramed, 468 by Cesar Sacramed and 454 by Ryan Liwagon.
The ladies duo of Carol Rio and Maria Mendoza led Youngsters on 512 and 510 with Marlon Peralta on 486 and Demet Velasquez on 426.
