RIYADH: Naif Arab University for Security Sciences will conduct a two-day terrorism prevention forum in collaboration with the League of Islamic Universities starting Tuesday.
Participants will include the ministries of interior and higher education, universities and organizations specializing in intellectual security issues, and agencies from Arab and Islamic countries.
Jamaan bin Ragush, president of NAUSS, said in a statement that the forum comes within the university’s efforts to combat terrorism and enhance ideological and intellectual security. He said that intellectual and cultural invasion poses a threat to human security in developing countries, particularly Islamic and Arab countries.
“This is very important for the preparation of the social climate for citizens’ cooperation with security authorities, and raising their awareness on their duties and responsibilities toward achieving a safe and secure society,” he said. “Therefore, the action plans of the university and its agendas always include many subjects on fighting terrorism, and issues of intellectual security in its scientific curriculum.”
He said the university urged masters and doctorate students to study and discuss the issue of terrorism from all aspects.
“More than 89 master’s and doctorate papers were discussed so far by the school of criminal justice, social and administrative sciences faculty and the faculty of strategic sciences,” he said.
Bin Ragush said the number of the university’s participations in conferences and symposiums related to terrorism, locally and internationally, stood at 105.
“The university signed memorandums of understanding with more than 185 organizations of leading scientific institutions and security systems worldwide, and has directed the publications of the university toward discussing security issues and combating intellectual terrorism and deviant thought to realize and achieve the missions of the university to disseminate the comprehensive concept of security,” he said.
