JEDDAH: The Specialized Criminal Court in Riyadh sentenced two Saudis to prison terms for helping two wanted people, disturbing public order and jeopardizing security.
A six-year term was issued against a Saudi who was convicted of aiding and abetting two relatives wanted for security reasons.
He bought them two telescopes for their weapons, even though he knew they would use them against security men, patrols and bases.
He was also accused of hiding their whereabouts, buying an unlicensed weapon and taking banned drugs.
The court gave him a jail sentence of six and a half years starting from the date of his detention, of which six months were given for violating Article 39 of the law on weapons.
He was also given 70 lashes in one go for taking drugs, and was banned from traveling for six years after his release.
The court sentenced another Saudi to 12 years in jail, and a 12-year travel ban upon his release, for breach of security and disturbing public order.
He can appeal the sentence within 30 days.
