RIYADH: Consul General Iric Cruz Arribas of the Philippine Embassy expressed his thanks to Riyadh Gov. Prince Faisal bin Bandar for helping resolve difficult issues involving Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
Arribas and other embassy officials, including Consul Christopher Patrick Aro and Attache Janis Orbita-Lantud, paid a courtesy call on the Riyadh governor recently.
The cases referred to involve workers without legal documents who are sick but could not be admitted in hospitals. The workers needed to be immediately returned to the Philippines. Issues involving Filipino household service workers, who were brought to the Kingdom without valid working visas and therefore could not be given exit visas through the regular process, were also addressed.
Arribas called on the Filipino community to respect and obey the rules as well as the customs and traditions of the Kingdom.
He also called on the employers to follow and obey the rules governing the employment of Filipinos in the Kingdom.
