Indian ambassador visits compatriots in Al-Khafji

Indian Ambassador Ahmad Javed at the International Indian School in Al-Khafji

RIYADH: Indian Ambassador Ahmad Javed visited Al-Khafji on Tuesday where he met with community members and discussed key issues.
He also visited the International Indian School and briefed the staff on the Indian government’s new initiatives and programs and had a chat with the students.
Anil Nautiyal, first secretary (community welfare), at the embassy, who accompanied the envoy, told Arab News on Wednesday that Javed’s visit on Tuesday was the first to the area by an Indian ambassador."
During a meeting with the members of the Indian community, Javed recalled India’s cordial and friendly relations with the Kingdom, he added.
The envoy said that Saudi Arabia remains the preferred destination for the Indian workers, who are known for their diligence, hard work and loyalty. He called upon the community members to always respect the local law.
Javed focused on India’s new initiatives and programs including MADAD portal, e-Migrate, particularly use of the social media in reaching out to the members of the community living in different parts of the Kingdom.
The ambassador also talked about the rules and regulations pertaining to the migration of housemaids from India to other countries, the menace of unauthorized recruiting agents and appealed to the community members to spread the message of legal and safe immigration of Indian nationals.
He added that steps are being taken against illegal activities of the recruiting agents.
The envoy also met with the local Saudi authorities and thanked them for their continued support and cooperation for the welfare of the Indian community.
He has also been invited to Al-Khafji Festival to be held in March, said Nautiyal.
