Al Arabi Decors, Wasalak and Eagles win Titan–JBL Basketball openers

JEDDAH: JBL opened its first conference project for 2017 dubbed Titan Watch – JBL Basketball Tournament last Friday at the Khalidia basketball court here. .
Participating teams paraded in their resplendent uniforms during the opening ceremony which JBL President Mohammed Rasheed Suyat and JBL Tournament Director Donald Doloso presided. Ahmad Peradilla of Jeddah Dawah Center gave inspirational Islamic invocation to open the tournament. Said Al Ghatani of Mandoubiyah Islamic Center started the ceremony with his inspiring welcome address. Ali Lumanog of JDC Veterans Team led the oath of sportsmanship.
The awards for the Best Team in Uniform went to Tetra Pak (Frederick Vasquez), ICTHUS (Dennis Elmenzo) and Clash of Friends (Noel Quito) for Inter-Company and Wasalak 40’s (Fred Concepcion) for 40 & above category. Best Mascot awards went to JDC Veterans, Tetra Pak, Knights and ICTHUS.
In the first game, Al Arabi Décor of Norman Quito beat Tetra Pak 84-69. Al Arabi played good defense in the whole game to defuse the offensive plays of Tetra Pak. Mamangun top-scored with 31 points for Al Arabi Décor and was adjudged as the TITAN Watch best player of the game while Reoladas scored 16 points for Tetra Pak.

Wasalak defeated Clash of Friends 90-85. It was tight up to the last seconds of the game. Soliva scored 24 points for Wasalak and was adjudged as the Giordano best player of the game while Gadiana led Clash of Friends with 28 points.

In the 40 & Above division, Eagles of coach Rey Maddatu defeated PICE 40’s 96-87. Eagles’ offense was unstoppable up to the final quarter. PICE tried hard to get back to the game but lost steam in the dying seconds. Bong Umlas had 34 points for Eagles and was adjudged as JBL best player of the game while Lasaca chipped in 30 points for PICE 40’s.

Saturday, Violet beat Yellow 97-93 in the Juniors Division. Violet displayed fighting heart in the final quarter. Herian Sena top-scored with 24 points for Violet and were adjudged as TITAN Watch best player of the game while Osama scored 28 points for Yellow.

Green defeated Gray 95-88 in the Midget Division. Firmalo scored 40 points for Green and were adjudged as the Giordano best player of the game while Michael Maddatu had 39 points for Gray.

Gray beat Green 100-91 in the Juniors / Seniors Mix division.
