JEDDAH: Two residents died on Tuesday in Al-Qunfudah province after lightning struck them, with two others injured in the same incident.
Meanwhile, rescue teams managed to save two people stranded by floods in Qanunah Valley in two different incidents on Monday following the rains that fell over Al-Qunfudah and nearby areas.
The official spokesman for Makkah Civil Defense, Col. Saeed Sarhan, said two people died as a result of lightning strikes during the thunderstorms, while two others who were with them were injured. They were immediately moved to the nearest hospital.
He added that rescue teams managed to rescue two people stranded by flooding in Qanunah Valley, to the east of Al-Qunfudah.
“They both are well and in good health,” said the spokesman.
Col. Al-Sarhan noted that the Civil Defense in Makkah issued alerts and warnings via its several accounts on social media about the possibility of rainfall in the province, and called upon everyone to be extra careful and vigilant for their safety.
He concluded by stressing the warnings of the Civil Defense Directorate in Makkah to all citizens and residents to be cautious and stay away from floodplains, and not to stay in valleys, whatever the level of water.
