The United Nations in India, NITI Aayog and XPRIZE marked United Nations Day 2016 by recognizing India's innovators who are helping transform the lives of people in the country. Innovators from government, the private sector, civil society, and educational institutions from around the country shared their innovations that will help India to achieve Agenda 2030 and the sustainable development goals. Sustainable development goals where Target 6 includes "Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all".
Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog, participated in a discussion on the future of Innovation in India. Yuri Afanasiev, UN resident coordinator and UNDP resident representative, moderated the dialogue.
Afanasiev honored Eram Group chairman & managing director, Siddeek Ahmad for donating Eram's showcase E-Toilets to the UN in India.
Eram Group, which has pioneered the concept of unmanned electronic toilets in India, which is developed using indigenous technology has by now successfully deployed over 2,400 plus electronic toilets across various cities, rural areas and schools in India. This proven and established public sanitation model has been widely appreciated, where over 45 awards and recognitions stand testimony to the success of the model. India, which is now a fast paced economy has awakened to the need of “Clean India Campaign” and Eram Group under the able leadership of its chairman and managing director has been an active participant of this ambitious initiative announced by prime minister of India.
Ahmed is a humanitarian and a notable business man in the Kingdom who is taking lot of initiatives to improve Indo-Saudi bilateral trade relationships.
