ABU DHABI: Pakistani beauty Mahira Khan is all set to shine on the silver screen opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Rahul Dholakia’s ‘Raees’. However, the film would have faced no confrontations, had the makers decided to go for their first choice for Mahira’s role.
Apparently, former Miss India Ankita Shorey was the original choice to play Mohsina in ‘Raees’. However, she was replaced by the ‘Bol’ actress as the role demanded a Pakistani star at that time and luckily ‘Raees’ fell in Mahira’s lap.
‘Raees’ has faced lots of obstacles lately for casting Mahira as one of the political wings in India was demanding to ban films featuring Pakistani artistes. But the producers Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar and Shah Rukh and director Rahul are all optimistic that by the time the film releases in January 2017, things will fall in place.
Dismissing rumors of Mahira’s ouster from ‘Raees’, the film’s co-producer Farhan Akhtar confirmed they’ve no plans of replacing her. An insider revealed that the producers seriously contemplated changing its leading lady.
After those hullabaloos, makers of the film decided to shoot the remaining parts of ‘Raees’ at an undisclosed location in Abu Dhabi. So, Mahira is all set to fly to the capital city of the UAE by month end to complete her scenes with Shah Rukh. Her attendance is also needed for dubbing. Rumour mill suggests that the filmmaker will set up a dubbing studio for her in Abu Dhabi itself.
Buzz is that two songs of the film are yet to be shot including one promotional song and that will be shot in the UAE. The gangster film is based on SRK-Mahira’s relationship.
