RIYADH: Plans are underway to organize a forum in the Kingdom in collaboration with the World Economic Forum to highlight the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and the National Transformation Program 2020.
This was revealed following the meeting here on Tuesday between Commerce and Investment Minister Majid Al-Qassabi and Philipp Rösler, board member of the World Economic Forum who was on a two-day visit to the capital starting Monday.
During his visit, which concluded Tuesday, Rösler met a number of dignitaries and visited organizations that are likely to participate in the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum 2017.
The World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos gathers the world’s top leaders at the beginning of each year to discuss challenges related to the global, regional and industry agendas. It remains the foremost creative force for engaging the world’s top leaders in collaborative activities to shape the global, regional and industry agendas at the beginning of each year. For over four decades, the World Economic Forum’s mission — improving the state of the world — has driven the design and development of the annual meeting program.
Besides meeting Al-Qassabi, Rösler held talks with Health Minister Tawfik Al-Rabiah, Khalid Al-Falih, minister of energy, industry and mineral resources, and met with the German Ambassador Dieter Haller in Riyadh. He also visited the King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce, and Glowork— the first e-portal for women recruitment in the GCC, which was formed by young Saudi entrepreneurs that aim to bring empowerment to women and increase diversity in the Saudi workforce.
During the meeting with Al-Qassabi, Rösler was briefed on the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, and the National Transformation Program 2020.
The two parties discussed the establishment of a strategic partnership between the ministry and the Davos forum, as well as promoting cooperation between the two sides.
They reviewed the Kingdom’s participation in the WEF sessions and investment opportunities, thus contributing to achieve the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
Al-Qassabi also discussed with his guest about holding preparatory workshops for the Davos forum in the Kingdom to support Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and its investment opportunities.
”For that purpose, working groups will be formed to organize a forum in the Kingdom in collaboration with the Davos World Economic Forum,” the minister said.
