RIYADH: The National Committee for Endowments at the Council of Saudi Chambers recently discussed the importance of the media in spreading the culture of endowments in order to diversify sources of income.
The body will submit its recommendations to the authorities concerned following a workshop held by the committee recently in Al-Qassim entitled “Endowments: Obstacles and Solutions."
A group of experts and specialists in the field of endowments participated in the workshop.
Various lawyers, judges and consulting firms also took part and they addressed outdated regulations, legislative proceedings and litigation that needed to be addressed in order to develop new concepts and practices.
According to the participants, ongoing expansion programs in development, investment, administration and banking sectors require that they should meet the challenges in terms of systems, management and procedures.
According to the head of the committee, Badr bin Mohammed Al-Rajhi, the meeting sought to being about coordination between various bodies and to promote the sector. It called on the chambers of commerce to set up special committees for this purpose.
Al-Rajhi said that the meeting emphasized the importance of the media in promoting the culture of donation. The body suggested a plan to provide relevant information and promotional materials to the Saudi media. It stressed the need for activating the role of the social media in promoting the culture of donations for national causes.
