The governor was speaking at the 35th anniversary celebrations of the GCC in Riyadh, attended by members of the diplomatic corps of Gulf, Arab and other countries.
He said that the GCC member countries have always acted responsibly to maintain common social, cultural, economic and political ideals, to maintain peace and security in the region.
At the outset of the ceremony, GCC Secretary General Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani highlighted the achievements of the GCC since its inception in 1986 and congratulated the GCC leaders for their support. He also expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Culture and Information, represented by the minister Adel Al-Toraifi, for supporting the event.
“On this occasion, it is a source of pride to witness further successes and achievements of the council over 35 years, thanks to Allah and the GCC leaders for their wisdom and continued support,” he said.
He said the body has united around politics, economics, defense and security. “The GCC is proud today of being a fortress for the security and stability of member states, while the region is facing bloody conflict and unrest. The GCC is an oasis of progress and prosperity,” he said.
