JEDDAH: A British teenager has been detained for 27 years on Friday for killing two people, one of which was 31-year-old Saudi doctoral student, Nahid Almanea.
James Fairweather was found guilty of stabbing Almanea 16 times as she walked to university in 2014.
The 17-year-old, from Colchester, admitted manslaughter but denied murder on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
His other victim, father-of-four James Attfield, was stabbed more than 100 times in the same town.
Fairweather, who had an obsession with serial killers, was arrested in May 2015, after a dog walker saw him hiding in bushes near the same spot he had attacked Almanea.
In a statement, Nahid Almanea’s brother Raed described his feelings of guilt at not being able to save his sister and said life is now "meaningless" for the family.
